NEW RELEASE -CHRISTMAS SONG!
'Same old songs are playing in the superstore'
...is how it began. Two musicians, Andrew and Rory, complaining about the lack of memorable classics since the 70s/80s.
‘Why don’t you write one then!’ says Andrew’s wife Lynne. She insisted on some challenging criteria - it mustn’t mention the word ‘Christmas’, it had to have a recognisable ‘style’ and should feature a kazoo, if only briefly!Â
The following day, Andrew began and completed the song on a 9-hour drive to Scotland, going for a ‘Britpop’ feel. It was recorded earlier this year, contains a sing-a-long chorus and even the occasional elf!Â
The first verse is all about the Christmas shopping experience at Bridgend Tesco Extra, which should be relatable to locals.
But, how did he get away without mentioning Christmas (except in the song title)…you’ll have to listen to find out!Â
Did we mention that it's streaming across all platforms...?
...and did we mention that Lynne chased two members of 'Slade' through Amsterdam Schipol Airport? Keep scrolling...
Did we mention that it's streaming across all platforms...?
'Dave Hill and Noddy Holder are here? Where? Why didn't you speak to them?'
Streaming across all platforms has been a learning curve! The song was all ready to be uploaded to our final choice of distributor. All preparations finally complete. Lynne had waited patiently for almost a year. Yes, patiently!Â
The final form to complete included a tickbox that made our eyes open wide.Â
'...this song does not contain the name of any other artist without their permission.'
The original lyrics included SLADE, WIZZARD and MARIAH CAREY...and they were GOOD lyrics!Â
Andrew re-wrote 3 of the lines and re-recorded the vocals.Â
Hence a chase through the airport to find Dave and Noddy...an unsuccessful one though!
So, if anyone does have any connection to Slade, Wizzard and Mariah Carey...please direct them here!Â
